Bring it on 2014!

I've got A LOT going on this year that is planned...who knows what the unplanned will bring!

My books for Liberty University Online came yesterday. I'm excited to start on Jan 13th. I'm also nervous...When I started the journey of enrolling back to school July '13, I never imagined we would have a wee one on the way! So, I'm enrolled from Spring '14 and Summer '14 and will be taking Fall '14 off to settle into a new routine with the little one. It'll be an interesting year full of challenges...and I'm up for it!

Speaking of wee ones, I came across this nursery giveaway worth $1000! I am going to enter! Now...to move to a home that has room for a full nursery.

Team Pink, Blue, or Green?

Yep! We are expecting sweet baby number 3! So...Not only will I be blogging about being a wife, SAHM, homeschooler, and full time college student...I'll be blogging about being pregnant as well!

With our first two children we found out through ultrasound their gender. We are debating going team green for this little one. I've been making a list of why we should and why we shouldn't find out. I am generally an impatient person, but I would really love the surprise element at the end of labor! So here are pros and cons that are on my list.

Picking out baby items
Pros: Everything is cute and prepared for the little bundle of joy and it makes it easy for people to buy gifts.
Cons: What is there is a surprise and the baby isn’t what the radiologist tech said it was at teh gender scan! That is a whole lot of returning things after having a baby!
Picking out a name
Pros: Getting to know baby in the womb with a name. It is so sweet to be able to connect with the baby before they are born and imagine the kinds of things you will do with him/her.
Cons: Not being able to decide on a name!! My husband and I have a HARD time agreeing on girl names. We already have a boy name, but we always argue over girl names.
Decorating a room
Pros: Being able to decorate the room in gender specific colors and decor is SO much fun!
Cons: Then again, there are so many styles these days that are gender neutral and with the addition of gender specific room accents would make any room sway boy or girl.
So, those are my top pros and cons. We have a bit of time to decide! What did you do when you were pregnant? Or what will you do when you become pregnant?

ABCs of College Life: Study Tips

The kids are at Nana's house, so I'm taking this quiet time to read up on study tips!
I can't believe I start back to school in January!! I am SO excited and nervous. I know that I can do it...it's just making sure I schedule my week and don't procrastinate! If I could get a degree in procrastination, I'd get highest honors. (I'm not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed...)
I would LOVE to share some of my favorite study tips that I have learned while preparing for going back to college. I am not naturally an organized person. I can put together a killer planner...ask me to actually follow through with using it and I fail. Miserably.
I have gleaned some really great advice from several blogs! The following is a list of 5 of my favorite study tips.

ABCsofCollegeLife
READ THE SYLLABUS!
OK, so this might be a no-brainer to some, but for me, I never thought of using the syllabus as a study tool. Highlighting what has been done and organizing what needs to be done…right ON the syllabus will be a great help to me in organizing what I need to do weekly.
DO ALL READINGS
The class lecture should be used as a jumping off point for learning the material. Don’t learn the material strictly from in class instruction. READ the chapters assigned, even if they were covered in class. Reading the chapters covered in lecture will help make connections between what the professor was saying and what is in the textbook.
eSTICKY NOTES – TO-DO-LISTS
I love sticky notes…but I tend to loose them or forget where I put them. SO, I use the sticky notes on my desktop! I will color code them to each class. Each week when I go over the syllabus (yes, do this weekly!) I will type in the sticky note exactly what needs to get done and the steps I need to take to get them done! Since I am a web development major, I am on the computer a lot so this works well for me.
USE A PLANNER
I haven’t found the PERFECT planner yet, so I’m using a Mead Daily/Monthly planner I found at Target for $8.99. After looking over the syllabus, schedule our the readings. Say there are 2 chapters to be read this week, take the number of pages a divide by how many days are available to sit down and read! Write this down in the planner! It helps keep things on track and helps plan ahead if there is a need for a sick day.
COLOR CODE
As I mentioned above in eSticky Notes, I will color code my classes. This goes for color coding folders/pens/sticky notes, etc. Also, color code notes taken in and out of class. I am a visual person and color coding certain topics/headings/sub-headings helps me remember them for the test! Within my notes, I will use different colors than those that are assigned to the classes themselves to avoid confusion.
I hope that these help in your journey! Do you have any favorite study habits? I’d love to hear about them.

Obligatory Introduction

Welcome to The Tiffany Nest!

I'm so glad you've stopped by. I have started and stopped several blogs, wanting each one to have a separate niche of my life.

Well...ain't nobody got time for that!

So...I made this one about a mamma just trying to take care of her nest.

HI! My name is Liz and I'm an internet addict. I am here to blog about my life as a wife and stay at home mom who is also a homeschooler and full time college student. Sounds a little crazy huh? Well, that's because it is! Trying to juggle home life, and the education of my children and myself seems to be a daunting task to me! I know there are some out there who are so super organized that having a full plate doesn't even phase them.

That certainly isn't me! I am a mostly disorganized person who likes everything to be organized...makes perfect sense, right? Right?

I hope you'll join me in this adventure with a cup of coffee...or a martini, depending on the time.
